Early Life and Education
Joseph Kosinski was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, and graduated from the Columbia University School of Architecture with a degree in Architectural Design.
Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2005, he began writing the novel "Oblivion," which Walt Disney Pictures initially planned to adapt into a film in 2012. Universal Pictures eventually acquired the rights and released the film in 2013, starring Tom Cruise.

Kosinski currently serves as an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University, specializing in 3D modeling.
