Chaucer Biography
Geoffrey Chaucer, a celebrated English poet, was born at London, England, about 1340 and died there, Oct.
25, 1400. Of his childhood nothing is certainly known except that he was the son of a vintner.
Chaucer's date of birth is based largely on the record of a trial held in 1368, at which Chaucer testified. In the court record he is described as being forty years of age.
