Tanusree Chakraborty joined the BJP in 2021,[4][5] and contested for the party in the Shyampur seat in the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election but lost.[6] She owns two restaurants in Kolkata.[7]

Chakraborty was born in Kolkata and was a student at Kamala Girls' High School.
